He rose and rebuked the winds and the sea Mt 8:23-27
Just as Yahweh heard the cries of the Israelites in Egypt, Jesus listens to the cries of his disciples. "Save us Lord, we are perishing, Save us Lord, we are perishing." The way Jesus answered to their cries is today's focus of meditation. It is written, "he rose rebuked the winds and the sea and there was great calm." Here Jesus becomes the real physician. Why the disciples are so much scared? because of the furious sea. Why the sea is so furious? because of the strong winds. Therefore, Jesus first rebukes the winds and then the sea. Now a days people are after immediate cure and results. They are not bothered about the real cause or the lasting solutions. They have forgotten the meaning of age old sayings. Could we make some changes in our lives? Let us ask for the grace we need today to see into the real problems of our life, our children, students etc and try to find the real solutions. It may need more time, commitment and faithfulness. Amen! Have a nice Day.
