“Why couldn’t we drive the demon out?” (Mt 17:19)

“Why couldn’t we drive the demon out?” (Mt 17:19)

Meditation:      Today many people, especially the corporate, are monitoring or keeping a close watch on others’ career and their success. This is very good and helpful too. Those who do it effectively find themselves successful and meaningful. There are also others, who just see the success line of winners and go after them, imitating. However, we find them not successful; but often a big failure. How does it happen? In today’s gospel we find some indication to understand the theme better. Disciples of Jesus asked him, “Master, why couldn’t we drive the demon out?” They really wanted to know that why they couldn’t drive out the evil spirits from the boy as their master did. Jesus gave the simple answer; because you do not have real faith. This is the cause of their utter failure. They failed to understand the real cause of their failure. Why even today, we remain fruitless in spiritual life. We lack something important in our life. We just become imitators of someone without imbibing their charisma. The book of Hebrews says, “As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses round us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us.” (12:1) It is not in an overnight we become a saint, rather let us on every day, on a regular basis putting before us Jesus our target, invoking the intercession of numerous saints, the successful imitators of Jesus Christ, let us chase our race.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, we thank you and praise you for your correction and encouragement everyday you give. Whenever we prove ourselves wrong and fruitless, give us the courage to come back to you and learn from you and realize the right cause of failure in our lives. Lord, our master, teach us to realize our failures. Amen!

Greetings:        Take courage God is with you! Have a nice and blissful day….
