Holy Rosary Month - Day 30: Glorious Mysteries 4

Holy Rosary Month - Day 30: Glorious Mysteries 4

The assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven: In the fourth glorious mystery we meditate on the assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven. We were meditating on the holy face of Jesus Christ in the last twenty three different holy mysteries. In the coming two days we will be meditating on the face of holy Mary, mother of God, our guide and help in this pilgrimage to heaven. The letter to the Hebrews tells us, “As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses round us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end.” (Heb 12:1, 2) Among this large crowd of witnesses, holy Mary, our mother stands out the first and the foremost. She deserves the highest honor in the church among the multitude of saints. It is because of this very reason that the church concludes her meditation on the holy face of Jesus Christ with two mysteries dedicated to Mary. The holy rosary was a pilgrimage with Mary, our guide and help, who completed it successfully in its perfection forever. Let us also honor her with great love and devotion. We don’t forget that there are in our times too, many who claim to believe in Jesus but do not able to understand the importance of Mary. They seem to assert their faith in the living word of the Lord, but lose their faith in Mary, mother of God. It is a contradiction in itself; how can they know and love Jesus, the word incarnate, without accepting Mary who surrendered herself to the word of God to become his mother? She is the one who was addressed by God through the angel, “Hail. The favored one! The Lord is with you!” (Lk 1:28) She is the one who was addressed by Elizabeth, “Most blessed are you among women!” (Lk 1:42) She is the one who was addressed by the church, “holy Mary, mother of God” Do you feel ashamed of these addresses? I do join with St. Paul who says, “If some of you have a different attitude, God will make this clear to you.” (Phil 3:15) I do believe that if I follow Mary, my mother, faithfully in this pilgrimage, I will be also rewarded with Mary, my mother. This mystery of the assumption of Mary into heaven deepens my faith in “the heavenly citizenship” that is arranged for me by God. (Phil 3:20)

Prayer: Oh Mary, queen of heavens! We come to you today for your special maternal help and protection. Mary, our mother and guide; help us to believe in the heavenly citizenship and live a life set according to heavenly things. “For to be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace.” (Rom 8:6) In this holy mystery we specially pray for all those who have received baptism but are not serious about their call to heavenly citizenship and lead a life of this world. Let them be filled with Holy Spirit and guided by Mary, our mother. O, Mary be with us, always! Amen!

Greetings:  Wish you all a nice and blissful Marian Thursday!
