“Make friends for yourselves with worldly wealth,
so that when it gives out, you will be welcomed in the eternal home.” (Lk 16:9)
Today’s Passage: Lk 16:9-15
Meditation: If we carefully observe the
social media today, without doubt, it gives the impression that the people live
amidst large circle of friends. Many friend requests are welcomed with the same
message that your request is denied for it has turned five thousand. ‘Liked
pages’ are in millions; now and then, they, to my surprise, are known as ‘paid
ones.’ Convention grounds are often full of crowds; sometimes they too are
labeled, ‘paid crowds.’ Day by day, with wide coverage, the leaders and their
activities are on the front page of the media; at times they are alleged as ‘paid
news.’
Many are confused with today’s verse of meditation
against the above background. They seriously think that if it goes like this,
the eternal abode will be for eternity overcrowded. The heaven needs to have
always a notice board carrying the message houseful at the entrance gate. For,
many a people have become utterly poor today by paying to make friend circles
as much as possible. What do you think about this?
“Make friends for yourselves with worldly wealth,
so that when it gives out, you will be welcomed in the eternal home.” (Lk 16:9)
What did Jesus really mean by this? I do hope that it is not just filling your
friend circles here on earth rather God filling your friend circles while you
spend your money, your time, and your talents for your needy brethren. On the
judgment, then he will reveal to us our ‘real friend circles’ that enabled us to
enter the kingdom of God by saying, “I tell you, whenever you did this for one
of the least important of these brothers of mine, you did it for me!” (Mt
25:40)
Prayer: Lord God, we thank you and praise you for your daily
eternal bread. Teach us, how to gain, with all our money, talents, and time,
real friends who will reach us eternal abode. Our dear heavenly friends
intercede for each one of us. Guide us with the help of your Holy Spirit. We
ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!
Greetings: God is with you! Have a nice and blissful Saturday…
